List of National Sports Award Winners 2020

The National Sports Awards 2020 were announced by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports India on August 21, 2020. The selection committee which was headed by Retd. Justice Mukundakam Sharma, the Government of India has decided to confer the awards this year to all the deserving sports persons, the coaches and other entities under several sports categories.

This year a total number of 73 awardees in total 7 categories recieve their awards from the President of India on August 29, 2020, that on National Sports Day.

RAJIV GANDHI KHEL RATNA AWARD 2020 —

The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award is the highest sports honour of India first awarded in the year 1991-92. It is also known as Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in Sports and Games. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports India annually honoured the award to the deserving sportsperson in the memory of former Prime Minister of India late Rajiv Gandhi.

ARJUNA AWARD 2020 —

The Arjuna Award in India is the highest Civilian award given to the individual for their outstanding performance in National Sports. The award is given by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. It was first started in the year 1961.

DRONACHARYA AWARD 2020 —

The Dronacharya Award is a sports coaching honour of India. The award is also known as Dronacharya Award for Outstanding Coaches in Sports and Games. It is India’s highest Civilian award for Outstanding Coaches in Sports and Games was started in the year 1985 for the first time.

The Dhyan Chand Award, is a Lifetime Achievement sporting honour in India popularly known as Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime Achievement in Sports and Games. The award is given by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in the memory of former Indian hockey player Dhyan Chand. It was started in the year 2002.
