Assam History GK for APSC Prelims and Ahom History Quiz for Competitive Exam

There are mainly two very important Assam History GK for APSC Prelims and Ahom History Quiz for Competitive Exam. They are  :

1. Sudingphaa was also famous as Chandrakanta Singha who was a Tungkhungia ruler of the Ahom Dynasty of the extensive Ahom kingdom who reigned from 1811 till 1818 and again from 1819 till 1821 as he was crowned twice as the king. His rule was marked with the conquest of Burmese on Assam and thereafter its occupation by the British East India Company. His first phase of regime concluded when he was dethroned by Ruchinath Burhagohain who placed Purandar Singha on the royal throne and his second reign came to an abrupt end when he was defeated by the invading Burmese troops.

2. The Burmese invasion of Assam denotes the period between 1817 and 1826 when the Ahom Kingdom in Assam was invaded three times by the Burmese and the kingdom briefly came under the control of Burmese rulers (1821–1825). This period, called the manor din by the Assamese and Chahi-Taret Khuntakpa (seven years of devastation) in Manipuri, is remembered with horror. It was the climactic period of the 600-year old Ahom kingdom. The sharp drop in population due both to depredations as well emigrations left the erstwhile kingdom in shambles. The British, who were earlier reluctant to colonise Assam, came into direct contact with a belligerent Burmese occupying force; and following the First Anglo-Burmese War annexed not just the Ahom kingdom but also Burma.
