Pranab Mukherjee who served as the 13th President of India from 2012 to 2017 was born at Mirati, Bengal (now in West Bengal) in December 11, 1935. His father Kamada Kinkar Mukherjee was a freedom fighter. In his early days he worked in a local daily Bengali news paper Desher Dak. 

Today the whole nation mourns the demise of Pranab Mukherjee, the former President of India. Havingheld several ministerial portfolios with the government of India throuhout his illustrious career, Mr Pranab Mukherjee was conferred with the India’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna, for his significant contributions to his country on a trajectory of growth.

On July 5, 2013, the honorable President of India Pranab Mukherjee signed a food plan in law which was specially proposed to help feed two-third of the country’s population. The implementation of the plan would provide subsidized food every month to nearly 800 million poor people of the country. The bill proposes to provide 
One kilo of rice — three rupees, 
One kio of wheat — two rupees 
One kilo of millet — one rupee
The measure will apply to 75% of Indians living in rural areas and 50% of the urban areas.  

Pranab Mukharjees life was a hope for millions of poor people.
