World’s largest cleanliness survey
The Government of India on August 20, Thursday announced the results of the annual survey of cleanliness, Swachh Survekshan 2020. This is the fifth edition of the survey which was mainly introduced by PM Narendra Modi in January 2016. The survey was introduced by the Government of India with the objective of large-scale participation in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The Swachh Survekshan is meant to monitor the performance of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in a large way.
The Indore city has bagged the top spot fourth time in a row as the cleanest city of India. The Union Housing Minister Hardeep Singh Puri Congratulated the people of Indore.
‪Key highlights of Swachh Survekshan Survey 2020–
* 1,87 crore citizen feedback received. 1.7 crore citizens registered on Swachhata app
* More then 5.5 lakh sanitary workers already they are linked to the social welfare schemes
* More then 84,000 informal waste pickers integrated into the mainstream
* Over 4 lakh contactual employees employed by Urban Local Bodies
* More then 21000 garbage vulnerable points identified and transformed in this proces of swachhata
Innovations and Best practices and the report on Evaluation of Ganga Towns —
i) 4324 Urban Local Bodies declared Open Defecation Free (ODD) so far
ii) 1319 cities certified ODF and 489 cities ceetidies ODF++
iii) Over 66 lakh individual household toilets & over 6 lakh ms community toilets constructed
iv) Over 59,900 toilets across 2900+ cities mad e live on Ganga Maps
