On the 12th of June, 2024, Chief Minister of Assam Shri Himanta Biswa Sharma Has launched a Welfare Scheme for female students in the State. The name of this Scheme is Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina, commonly known as the Assam MMNM Scheme, under which the Government of Assam Provides Financial Assistance to Girl Child Students who take Admission to Higher Classes. This initiative represents a significant move by the government to empower young girl’s ability and to combat the issue of child marriage.
The Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Scheme 2024 is a great initiative by Assam government, aimed at promoting higher education among young girls and preventing child marriage. With a substantial allocation of Rs. 240 Crore, the scheme plans to support 10 lakh girls with monthly financial grants ranging from INR 1000 to INR 2500, based on their level of education. The funds are directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts, ensuring transparency and ease.
Under the Nijut Moina Scheme 2024, financial assistance is provided monthly to encourage girls to continue their studies without facing any financial burden.
For those who studying in 11th and 12th grades, the scheme offers a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000.
Those who have moved on to pursue a degree can expect a bit more support, with the scheme providing Rs 1,250 per month.
For students who are furthering their education at the postgraduate level or are enrolled in a B.Ed program, the scheme offers a substantial allowance of Rs 2,500 every month.
CM Sarma clarified that allowances would not be provided during the summer vacations in June and July. The scheme will run for 10 months each year, depositing stipends directly into the students’ bank accounts.
